Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their second annual show and sale of Registered Lleyn sheep on Saturday 20th October.

Trade was in keeping with the current breeding sheep trend proving difficult. Once again it was only the classier lots, which met with any demand. Topping the females at £70 were a pen of 12 gimmers from Hamish Goldie, South Bowerhouses, Ruthwell which sold to Ritchie Strawhorn, Dalmakethar, Johnstone Bridge . Ewes topped at £60 for 3 year olds from Mr Harrison, Penrith. Ewes lambs sold to £50 from Willie and Jennifer Davidson, Poldean, Moffat.

A Shearling ram from Michael Curister, Laga Farms Ltd, Orkney proved the journey worthwhile when it topped the ram bids at £400 selling to  Flock 886, Mr Peter Knowles, Cragg Farm, Kendal. Rams averaged £164.80 for 25 sold.
