WEST COUNTRY CLUB OPEN DAY
Sunday 31st July at 2pm

Fordhayes Farm, Knowle, Crediton, Devon EX17 5BX
By kind permission of Roger & Jill Ford, Flock 1134.
Fordhayes is a small family farm in mid-Devon; 100 acres at 300-350 ft. It is ideal sheep country and the sheep enterprise fits well with the other stock (40-50 store cattle and thousands of free range poultry). The Lleyn ewe flock is bred pure but the ewe lambs are put to the Berrichon. Lambing starts at the end of January. ‘It might sound early but it suits our locality’, says Jill. The meat lambs grade well (Lleyn - 18-20 kg - 25% U, 71% R and 4% O - mostly 3L). Judge Adam Cheesmur said ‘I awarded Jill and Roger the 2010 FlockCompetition Championship for an excellent display of the quality and the versatility of Lleyn sheep, demonstrating how they can give producers as many marketing options as possible within one flock. All are welcome. Roger & Jill Ford 01363 84476
