6TH Annual Lleyn Sale – Rams to £2,415.00

 The 6th Official West Country Sale of Lleyn Sheep on behalf of the Lleyn Sheep Society held at the Exeter Livestock Centre by Exeter Market Auctioneers on Wednesday 30 th August 2006 attracted an increased entry with a total forward of 1176 sheep approximately 250 more than last year. A good trade saw almost 99% of the entry sold with only 14 sheep being unsold. The overall sale average was £96.76 (£4 down on last year).

 Generally ewe trade was easier and ram trade better than last year with ram averages up on 2005. Top price in the ewe section was £150 for shearling ewes from Mr. D. Barlow of Whitehall Farm, Luppitt, Nr. Honiton. Top price older ewes £80 for 2 year olds from Mrs. J. Hynes of Higher Cherubeer, Nr. Dolton and top price ewe lambs £86 from Mr. T.R.B. Turner of Grange House, Crediton.

 A very good clearance in the ram section with only 3 unsold saw a top price of £2,415.00 (2,300gns) for a shearling ram (050600) from Messrs. D.N. Bennett & Son of Tyn-y-Coed, Pontrobert, Meifod, Powys and was purchased by Messrs. E. & D. Jones of Lluest Wen, Comins Cock, Machynlleth, Powys.

£1008 (960 gns) Shearling Ram from Mr. A. W. Davies of Gwynedd.
£997.50 (950 gns) Shearling Ram from Messrs. D.W. & C.F. Morris of Carmarthen .
£966 (920 gns) Shearling Ram from Mr. D. Barlow of Honiton.
£840 (800 gns) Shearling Ram from Messrs. D.N. Bennett & Son of Powys.
£735 (700 gns) Shearling Ram from Messrs. D.F. & O.M. Bond of West Sussex .
