SUCCESS WITH CROSSING THE LLEYN

We have received this letter from a very satisfied customer of a Lleyn ram.

Hi
I don't know if you remember but I came to your farm in August 2010 and bought a ram and 5 ewe lambs. The Ram I called Collin and he was to produce ewe lambs from my Mules. I put him on 22 of my best Mules and kept the 19 ewe lambs produces. All lambs born were of very good weights and easily lambed. My only concern at the outset was that the male lambs might take rather a long time to finish and I did consider creep feeding them as I need all lambs gone fat by November. My worries were completely unfounded and all the male lambs fattened as quick as those from the Charollais ram!

I have now just finished lambing the ewe lambs from Collin. They were all very well grown and had been kept in the bunch from weaning in July. I put my Beltex ram on them as he throws such small lambs. I don't know if all Beltex are like that but mine is! All the ewe lambs were in lamb with 9 of them carrying twins! They have all lambed down outside on their own and have then been brought into a pen for 24 hours or so. They are super mothers and have followed their lambs well in from the field. They have loads of milk and I'm absolutely thrilled with them. I have put them back out in their bunch and I am creep feeding the lambs. They are a field of sheep to be really proud of and I can’t thank you enough for such a super ram.
Kind Regards

Cyfieithiad CymraegWelsh Welcome
Lleyn sheep originate from the Lleyn peninsula in Wales and until recently were a relatively unfamiliar breed of sheep in the UK.
Over the past 10 years the Lleyn breed has caught the eye of many farmers, and now Lleyn sheep can be found almost all over Britain & Ireland. Farmers soon find that the Lleyn is an ideal ewe, quiet in nature, prolific, has great maternal instincts, milky & will not eat you out of house and home. The Lleyn fits in to many situations and its versatility suits both lowland and upland grazing.
