Newark & Nottinghamshire County Show

The 2010 show season started well for the Lleyn breed, when a two year old Lleyn ewe took the Any Other Native Breed Champion at the Newark & Nottinghamshire County Show, held on 8th & 9th May 2010. The ewe, owned by SA & VJ Elwess, Heapham, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, was bought from DW Ellis, Pentrefoelas, Betws y Coed at the Ruthin Lleyn Sheep Society sale in September 2009. The Judge, Mr D Jenkins, was particularly impressed with her condition, considering that she had only lambed six weeks prior to the show. He remarked that, as a judge, he was looking for potential and this ewe had certainly acheived it.

Victoria Elwess, the previous Lleyn Sheep Society Promotions Officer, has recently left her post, as she and her husband are expecting their first child at the end of May. "We are both thrilled and honoured to have received such awards at our first ever show."
