New Sale at Newark
A new sale venue for Lleyn Sheep has been announced at Newark Livestock Market. Newark is well placed for the Central Midlands and the East of England with good road links. The sale will be held on Wednesday 8th September.

Continued demand for Lleyn Sheep - Stirling Sale Report
The 2009 Lleyn Sheep Society Sales continue to be a success, with a clear demand for Lleyn yearlings and rams at the new Stirling venue. 498 yearlings were sold, to average £114.12 and all but one ram went on to new homes, averaging £508.06. The top seller, a shearling from N Lawrence, Blackpots, Aughnagatt, Ellon, was the Champion Ram at the Stirling Lleyn Sheep Society Sale and sold to established breeder W Davison , Poldean, Moffatt for 900gns.[More]
First Lleyn Sheep Society Sale at Carmarthen
The Lleyn Sheep Society held their first Society Sale of pedigree Lleyn Sheep at Carmarthen Mart on Thursday 17 th September. Entries for the sale were well above expectations, with quality sheep presented on the day. The sale was very well attended, and a high level of interest from local buyers kept the trade firm. The top seller and pre-sale Show Champion was a shearling ram from William Williams, Bodtacho Ddu, Nefyn, Pwllheli, which went on to sell to the Judge, Phillip Anthony, Haregrove Farm, Bridgend for 700gns. Record Prices at Ballymena
The 3rd Annual Show and Sale of Lleyn Sheep at Ballymena Mart , Northern Ireland , was held on 12 th September 2009. Despite the fine weather, buyers turned out to witness centre record-breaking prices for yearling hoggets and rams.[More]
Total Clearance at Ruthin Lleyn Sheep Sale
The Lleyn Sheep Society Sale at Ruthin has been hailed a tremendous success after a total clearance of all 2173 females forward on the day. The ringside was busy and bidding firm, seeing 1192 Maedi-Visna Accredited yearlings average £117.75, up £42.75 on the year. All classes of females saw excellent trade, from five-year-old ewes to ewe lambs, and the overall average for females was £101.82. [More]

Lleyn Prime Lamb Show Case
At Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Monday 24th August, Harrison & Hetherington & Scottish & Borders Lleyn Breeders Club held their inaugural show and sale of Lleyn prime lambs. A huge show of 29 pens were forward for judge Sean Cowin of Welsh Country Foods to cast his eye over. Champion pen went to M/s Fell of Chapel Farm, Bassenthwaite which later sold at 38kg £66.50 to Rob Skelton. Brian Fell a new convert to the Lleyn breed purchased his first Lleyn ewes at Borderway Mart last year and crossed them with Beltex Cross rams. [More]

Highgrove Open Day
The Prince of Wales is the Patron of the Lleyn Sheep Society, and runs a flock of organic Lleyn on his Highgrove Estate, so it was a natural choice for Lleyn Sheep Society 2009 national Open Day. Tuesday 16th June was blessed with fabulous weather, bathing the farm in glorious sunlight as the 120 members of the Lleyn Sheep Society arrived for the highly anticipated occasion. [More]
South West Sheep 2009
This event was held at North Alfordon Farm, Okehampton, near the Devon/Cornwall border. The weather forecast was horrid, so no-one cut for silage and decided on a day out instead, and then the day itself was fine - a perfect result for the many visitors. [More]

Simon Elwess a farmers son from Lincolnshire, they run an arable farm there. Victoria is now Victoria Elwess and can be contacted as before
North Sheep 2009
The atmosphere at North Sheep 2009 was filled with optimism for the sheep industry with an upbeat message been portrayed throughout the event. John Stott and his family provided a great venue for this bi-annual event which attracted over 9000 visitors. [More]
Welsh Sheep 2009
The Lleyn Sheep Society gained 3rd place in the Breed Society Stand competition. The stand featured Lleyn ewes with Lleyn lambs and commercial crosses out of Lleyn ewes, these included, Texel, Charollais, Meatlink, Hampshire and Blue Texel. [More]
2008 Photo Competition
Vernon and Kit Jones kindly judged the photo competition during the dinner at the Lleyn Sheep Society AGM on Saturday 25th October. Photos were judged on their composition and suitability for use as promotional photos for the Society. A winner from each class was selected and then put forward to be judged for the overall placing from first to third. [More]

The Society has now opened a Euro account so that members in the Euro-zone can pay subscriptions and registration fees in that currency.
