NSA Northern Ireland 2011
Ballymena Livestock Market
Monday 4th July 2011

A laid back start to the day in sunny Ballymena turned into a very busy day for the Lleyn Sheep Society Stand. There were fears that the fine weather would keep the farmers away in the hay fields but this seemed to make little difference.

The Lleyn Stand had been set up by the Northern Ireland Club and a very impressive job they had made of it with the rustic wooden hurdles and stylish bunting. The judges also admired the stand by awarding it second prize in the breed stand competition. Well done to all those involved. Well done and thank you to Charles and Andrew Kennedy for supplying the sheep on the stand, they were a real credit.

The Lleyn was well represented throughout the show not only on the Society stand. There was a Lleyn ewe with tremendous Beltex lambs on the Beltex stand. Adrian Fitzsimons had Lleyn x New Zealand Suffolk shearling ewes on his stand and Robert Edwards of Carrowdore Lleyns had a display of shearling ewes.

Many hand books and leaflets were given out with high interest in the Ballymena Sale in September. There was also noted interest in buying from England now that the Blue Tongue rules had relaxed.
