Even trade at Perth for Lleyn Sheep
Farmstock Genetics, Over Whitlaw Farm, Selkirk (flock 983) continued their show ring success from the Highland and the Great Yorkshire show with the first prize for their pen of 5 ewe lambs and then went on to win overall champion female class presented at the Perth Lleyn breeders sale on Tuesday the 12th of Sepember. Other prize winners included Mr David Alexander of Millside Farm, Ayrshire with a pen of 5 gimmers gaining him 1st and reserve female champion. Mr Alexander went on to take the top price for a pen of 10 gimmers bought by
Rettie Farming Company, Inchture, Perthshire.
The Rettie's are first time Lleyn buyers having looked at them
for some time. They felt now was the time to buy. They are planning to replace
their Cheviots and run Lleyns for easier shepherding. The trade showed an even spread for the sheep presented.

Ewe lambs averaged £59.47 and topped at £130 for a pen of 5 from Farmstock Genetics, Over Whitlaw Farm, Selkirk (flock 983) & bought by D, Alexander of Millside.
Rams topped at £945 for one of J K Goldie of Townfoot, Mouswald, Dumfries bought by Work Farm Ltd, St Ola, Orkney. Rams averaged £414.75. 1 st prize for his shearling ram and overall male champion went to Mr Simon Kavanagh (flock 1084), The Old Corn Mill, Bingley, W.Yorkshire and continues a good run of championship wins at this summers shows. Farmstock Genetics took 1st prize for their aged ram.
