RUTHIN SALES REPORT

Commercial trade dominated the 2006 Ruthin Sale held on Monday 5th September at the Ruthin Livestock Market, 3400 females & 138 rams went under the hammer. The sale gave commercial sheep farmers the opportunity to purchase some quality Lleyns. The male Champion was bred by , D W & C F Morris, St Clears, Carmarthen, topping the days prices with a bid of 3000 gns, bought by JA Fort. Brighton House Farm, Keighley West Yorkshire .

The demand for older ewes was keen, with W. Davies, flock 50, topping the section with his 1st prize winning ewes realising £84. Shearling ewes sold to a top of £195 from I. O. Jones, Betws yn Rhos, Flock 223. 1 st prize winners in the show the previous night. Mr E Pugh, Bala, Flock 1075 sold 10 shearlings for £150 & David Alexander, Ayrshire, Flock 913 took £140 twice.
Strong ewe lambs were in demand with Hamish Goldie, Dumfries, making £150 for his pen of 5, 1st placed lambs. Society Vice Chairman Dai Morris, St Clears, Flock 873 realised £132 per head and Frank Dinsdale, Cumbria took £100 for his pen and sold to Northern Ireland.
