SOUTH WALES LLEYN SHEEP BREEDERS CLUB
FARM WALK
Our first event will be our annual farm walk. This will take place on Sunday 1st July with Teifion& Joanna Rees and family, Gilfach Farm, Llangadog-Flock 224.

It is only 7 years ago that we were lucky enough to visit the Rees family at their last farm in Manordeilo. They moved four and a half years ago to Llangadog and it is with excitement that we look forward to visiting their new enterprise at Gilfach Farm.
As you can see by the flock number this is one of the oldest flocks in our club and it is an extremely successful flock both in the sale and the show ring.

In 2010 they retained their status as the best large flock in the club competition and this is their reward!
In 2011 they were the runners up in the RWAS Simple Solutions Farming award. They farm 300 acres organically and this year they lambed approximately 320 ewes, most of them in about a week. These lambs have been weaned and we will see the ewes and the ewe lambs as well as the remaining ram lambs.
They also lambed 125 ewe lambs from the previous year and although some of these have been sold with lambs at foot we will see the reminder running together.

Liz Rees also has a handful of the wrong type of white sheep- Texels! And there are also 4 saddleback pigs on the farm as well as a historic Cornish engine house.
DAY PLAN
We will meet at Gilfach at 11 am for morning coffee and an initial walk round. Lunch will then be provided before we complete our tour of the farm and have a go at a few stock judging competitions.
DIRECTIONS
From Brecon
Head towards Trecastle. In Trecastle there is a shocking lilac pub called the Castle Coaching Inn. Turn left at the Castle Coaching Inn and then keep going over the mountain and over the common.
You will come to another pub, the Red Kite on your right. Turn right in front of the Red Kite by the telephone box. Keep going along this road and take the second turning on the left. There will be signs along the route.
From Llangadog
Go through Llangadog and head for Myddfai.
There will be a rugby club on your left and cemetery on your right. Take the first right next to a cream farmhouse.
You should be heading for Llanddeusant- not Myddfai.
You follow this road for 4 miles with no turning off.
For those with Sat Nav systems the postcode is SA19 9EY, but it will take you to the next door neighbours.
Confirmation
If you wish to attend please give me a ring, text or email, just to let me know that you are coming- mainly to help the Rees family with their catering arrangements.
We would like to make the day as successful as possible so if there is anybody you can think of who would like to attend, be they a past, present or future member or other please bring them along. The more the merrier.
I look forward to seeing you all soon,
Bethan Vaughan- Flock 699
