Introducing the Lleyn Sheep Society New
Promotions / Breed Development Officer
Victoria Horton
Hello, my name is Victoria Horton and as the new Promotions/Breed Development Officer I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all.
For the past three years I have been working as an Animal Health Officer in the ever-changing department of DEFRA, currently known as Animal Health. This has helped me to see how the government works from both sides of the farm gate, and has broadened my understanding of the livestock industry. My involvement in the various disease outbreaks that we have endured over the past 12 months has also increased my awareness of disease control and the legislation behind it.
I have had a strong interest in sheep keeping since a young age, and currently run a flock of 70 commercial ewes. I am also developing a small flock of pedigree Lleyn, which are comparing very favourably to the North Country mules!
I am excited to be joining the Lleyn Breed Society Team and to be involved with such a promising breed. I will be on the Lleyn stand at many of the upcoming events and I look forward to meeting you all. Please do come and say hello!
