Great Yorkshire Show 2011
Tuesday 12th July
Judge: David Knowles, Kendal, Cumbria

A fine day with the rain kept away. An improved entry of sheep was seen this year, with seven exhibitors turning out sheep. Exhibitors had travelled from as far as West Sussex and Scotland as well as more locally. The champion was Lluest King, shown by Peter Sutton on behalf of Trinidad Investments. This ram was bred by Dylan & Emrys Jones and was purchased privately by Trinidad Investments last year. It is the first time he has been shown.

The reserve champion was a homebred shearling ewe from John Kingan of Dumfries who farms 490 ewes. This ewe is the full sister to Johns reserve champion shearling ewe at the Royal Highland Show. John is assisted by Keith & Doreen Whitelaw.
There was also success for the breed in the wool section. John Kingan’s ewe won the ‘Wool on the Hoof’ in the medium section she then went on to be in the final five for the overall championship. John Jamieson won 1st and 2nd in the fleece competition.
