The AGM weekend was based this year at the MacDonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa, Falkirk, Scotland. Members enjoyed a relaxed weekend socialising and visiting some interesting venues in the area. Having had many weeks of wet weather we were lucky to enjoy a dry spell with some sunshine at times.
Many arrived on the Friday afternoon/evening. The council members set straight to work on Friday afternoon with a meeting. The bar and restaurant in the hotel proved popular and a great place for people to catch up for the evening.
The next day saw the group gather for an organised coach trip. Firstly, they were treated to a tour of Grahams Dairy at Bridge of Allen this was followed by a sample of their ice-cream – delicious! Next we moved on to the Grahams farm were we saw where the milk comes from, the herd of Jersey cows. We also got to see their famous herd of Limousin cattle. The Graham Family kindly provided a sandwich lunch which was much appreciated. Thank you to the Graham Family and their staff for organising such an enjoyable visit.
The coach then moved on to the Falkirk Wheel where the group were given the chance to ride on this amazing rotating boat lift, connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal.
The evening brought the serious part of the weekend, the Annual General Meeting. Ifor Jones opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. The room stood for a minute silence to remember Miss Nia Williams our well respected Society President. Mr Alun Wynne Davies was elected as the Society President and Mr John Geldard as Vice President. Mr David Alexander and Dr Dai Morris stepped down from Council and were replaced respectively by Mr John Kingan and Mrs Bethan Vaughan. Also over the weekend Mr Ifor Jones was re-elected as Chairman, Mr John Dugdale as Vice Chairman and Mr David Knowles as Treasurer. Mrs Bethan Vaughan gave a vote of thanks to the officers, clubs and members and also paid tribute to Miss Nia Williams. Mr Edward Adamson seconded this.

Sunday morning brought the weekend to the end but not before a final visit. This time some of the group visited the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh. A most interesting tour of a fabulous piece of royal history.
