The Competition was judged by Bill & Suzanne Harper, Flock 2580
The correct order was XYAB
Here are the judges reasons:
We assessed the four couples of sheep on four criteria being:
- Breed type
We placed “X” first because the ewe is very correct with real presence and critically the lambs are even with excellent conformation and condition indicating high milk levels from the tidy uddered ewe.
We felt “X” had the advantage over “Y” because the “X” lambs are better fleshed and stronger in the hind leg.
We placed “Y” over “A” because of the strength, length and locomotion of the “Y” ewe. The “Y” lambs are well grown and better matched than the “A” lambs.
We placed “A” over “B” because of the more correct breed characteristics of the “A” ewe. The “B” ewe has a tendency to be “post legged” at times and does have longer ears. The “A” lambs are slightly more even than the “B” lambs.
We have enjoyed the experience and thank you for inviting us to be the Masters Judges.
Tie break question - How many ewe lambs registered with the Society in 2019 = 30,636
