SKIPTON SALE 2020

The final Society sale of 2020 and it did not disappoint with females once again in demand.  There was a warm and busy atmosphere helped by the mart running a multi breed ram sale alongside. 

The shearling ewes saw plenty of interest with the best sheep easily finding new homes at £190-200.  There were buyers taking sheep home at £170-180 with some smaller sheep sold for £145-£155.  There were two pens realised £205/head.  First regular and local consigner, H & M Dugdale, Settle sold a pen of 10 to S Lord, Oldham.  Next E & D Jones, Machynlleth sold a pen of 9 to A Hartley, Blackshaw Head.  Messrs Dugdale sold a pen at £200/head to SP & VM Morris, Preston and a pen at £195/head to JA Wood & Sons, Shrewsbury.  Another local consigner SJ Kavanagh, Draughton sold his top pen at £200/head to WH Greensit, Bedale.  Mr Kavanagh sold further pens at £195.  There was 100% clearance in this section.

 The on-going confidence in the sheep industry and prime lamb market is still helping the ewe lamb trade with the section topping at £150/head from AW Davies, Pwllheli when selling to AJ Mackintosh, Ravenglass.  Farmstock Genetics had a large run selling their top pen of 20 for £125/head to S Wisher, Driffield.  JA & R Geldard & Sons, Kendal sold two pens of 10 for £125 & £120/head both to CW Marwood, York.  C Nicholson, Beverley sold 10 for £121/head to B Wharton, Malton. 

Rams were topped by E & D Jones, Machymlleth with a Lluest Ram (00599/1910919) sired by Brightonhouse Gold Card.  He sold for 750gns to M Dugdale, Tosside.  H & M Dugdale, Settle sold Borrins Intercom (01228/1913872) sired by a P Knowles ram for 600gns to GJ Goff, Norfolk.  At 550gns was another Lluest Ram (00599/1910816) sired by Wraycastle Emmanuel from E & D Jones.  He sold for 550gns to DJ & C Thompson, Helmsley.
