Open Day Sunday 12th August - Dylan & Bethan Vaughan Flock 699
This year the Club Open Day is going to Llysyrawel to visit Dylan and Bethan. They farm in partnership with Bethan's parents Russell & Myfanwy Evans and their three children Harri, Branwen & Aneirin.
They now farm just over 600 acres, part owned, part rented. In the last year they have taken on two Farm Business Tenancies. The land is mainly grass, although there is 38 acres of spring wheat for whole crop and they grew 23 acres of winter barley which was harvested and crimped in early July
They currently have 50 pedigree Lleyn ewes, 36 yearlings and 40 ewe lambs as well as the yearling rams and the stock ram from Lionel Organ.
They usually sell their sheep at Exeter, Ross and Brecon. In 2016 they won the best medium sized flock in the South Wales Club Competition.
They also have 250 other ewes, mainly Welsh mules although they will lamb closer to 350.
There are 250 pedigree dairy cows in the Parcywern herd with approximately 150 followers and other 200 beef animals of various ages.
Meet at 11am for coffee at Llysyrawel.
We will then get on trailers for a tour. We will start at the home farm to see a selection of sheep and cattle and then travel to Puncheston to see more stock along with the spring wheat before coming back via Castlebythe.
There will then be a barbecue late lunch on the yard where there will be stock judging and the chance to see the yearling rams.
The postcode for Llysyrawel is SA63 4TL. All the farms on the road have the same postcode but there will be signs.
Travelling from the East the easiest route is to go to Haverfordwest and then travel towards Cardigan on the B4329. After going through the village of Woodstock, past the old television mast, you come to a crossroads. Turn left towards Letterston. (The other side is a sign saying Unsuitable for large vehicles.)Llysyrawel is a mile in on that road, on the right hand side.
From the North, coming from Cardigan head towards Fishguard. After Eglwyswrw turn left onto the B4329 towards Haverfordwest, next to the garage. You go over the Preseli Mountains, and through the village of Tufton. Keep going for about another mile and at the crossroads turn right towards Letterston. Llysyrawel is a mile in on that road, on the right hand side.
 ALL WELCOME. CROESO I BAWB.
If you would like to attend please try and let me know by Wednesday the 8th.
