2026 Skipton Sale Report

Our final Society Sale of 2026 at CCM Skipton saw breeders complete the rounds after what has been a successful autumn breeding sheep sale season. Vendors were not disappointed with the annual sale seeing overall averages rise across all sections and tremendous clearance rates, with many purchasers, travelling to Skipton to buy Lleyn females and especially males to take forward for the breeding season.

The sale began with a small entry of aged ewes, the first time any have been at the sale for a number of years. Six 2yr olds from AW Davies topped the section selling them away at £270/head to PJ Henfrey, Skipton. The first prize pen of Shearling ewes from S Kavanagh were sold away at £320/head to Myerscough College, Preston who also purchased another 3 pens from the same home at £310 and £300/head. Other pens sold well averaging out at £277/head.

The first prize pen of Ewe Lambs from AW Davies topped the section selling away at £210/head to Myerscough College, Preston adding these girls to their previous purchases of the day. Mr Davies sold another pen for £200/head to Monk Fryston Farms Partners, Monk Fyrston with other pens of lambs trading between £150-£170.

A standout shearling ram from the heart of Wales stole the show being crowned the pre-sale Show Champion and achieving the days top price of 2800gns. Settling the new centre breed record was breeders E & D Jones with a substitute Lluest ram (00599/25) sired by Whitlaw Landmark, he found a new home with Page Farm Partnership, Ripon. H & M Dugdale sold Borrins Orlando (01228/2526560) for 2300gns to N White, Richmond. JEJ Harrison & Son, Wilden who travelled to the sale purchased a ram from the same prize-winning pen Lluest (00599/2516539) for 2200gns and another from AW Davies Bronallt O'Neill (00050/2510122) for 2100gns. AW Davies sold another for the same money with Bronallt O'Donnel (00050/2510119) finding his new home at 2100gns to K & C Thompson, York.

With just over 200 sheep forward in the sale, demand outweighed supply when it came to rams, with a total of five tups selling in excess of 2,000gns with the large majority of tups selling 1,000-1,700gns with the section seeing a 100% clearance on the day.
